The Good News is that this Windmill will be very brief there is no bad news.
PP ED GAULD gave the Invocation: “The Winter Solstice the longest and darkest night of the year will take place in a few days. Thereafter, the days gradually get longer, lighter, and imbued with hope of new beginnings. Light and hope are central to the holidays we celebrate. In the spirit of Rotary and The Four Way Test, we pray that we may spread light to be a candle or the mirror that reflects it. Scatter Joy. Inspire Hope. Share Love. Seek Peace. Amen.” Thank You, ED, well done! MARCIA BROUS led the Pledge, followed by our somewhat jumbled rendition of The Four Way Test (it does help to have it showing on the Club Banner…) The song, as supplied by RICK BROUS, was Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer, which we even did twice very festive, really.
We set what YOE believes is a new record for Guests 23 total! They each were introduced by whoever brought them, one being referred to as “his first wife” and some of us cannot make that claim…And in my never-ending effort at complete and full accuracy (despite what some may think) I hereby venture to tell the COMPLETE story reported partially in last week’s WM:
Since it is now recognized that U.S. males walk an average of 1,000 miles per year, and there is at the very least unanimous agreement that these same males drink an average of 26 gallons of spirits annually, it therefore means that these U.S. males are getting 41 Miles per Gallon out of what they drink. The original teller of this tale is of course PP SEAN MCMILLAN, with the above complete addition supplied by PP JIM COLLINS. It seems only fair to properly credit these matters to their deserved sponsors.
PP MIKE NEWMAN reported that our former member, SANDY SANDERSON, passed away this week. SANDY would have been 95 next month. If we hear more on any plans, we’ll certainly pass them along.
And it probably doesn’t hurt to remind one and all that WVRC is DONE for 2010! We resume at UCLA on January 6th, 2011, and the following regular meeting day of the 13th will feature R.I. President Ray Klinginsmith speaking in Manhattan Beach so that becomes our meeting for the week. The address is 1400 Park View Avenue and we’ll remind you again.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
