Wednesday’s April showers brought clear and breezy skies to
Westwood on Thursday for our April 12 meeting, as we observe
April as Rotary Magazine Month. Our greeters were John
Heidt and Rev. John Woodall, who put smiles on faces of
everyone who didn’t have them before they arrived.
The pledge was given by Vocational Service Chair Steven
Pettise. Rev. John Woodall gave the invocation as only
a professional can; thank you for a great invocation.
We didn’t have any visiting Rotarians, but we did have quite
a few guests. A special guest here for second time was
Kim Morris, Director of Development of UCLA College of
Letters and Sciences. She was a guest of Chris
Bradford.
Paul Lewis, who will be graduating from the UCLA Anderson
School of Management this year, is the director of a private
equity finance association and was the guest of Colby Smith.
He met Colby at our young professionals networking event.
Sunny came with our own mayor of Westwood, Lenny Friedman.
Jane Mulato was a guest of Peggy Bloomfield, and Bill
Krinsky, Senior Vice President at Grandpoint Bank, was here
for the second time as a guest of Mark Rogo.
Our ambassadorial scholar from Japan in 2010-11, Masaki
has returned as a PHD student at UCLA in computer Science.
The head table was graced with Bill Krinsky, president elect
nominee Mark Rogo, President Ed Jackson, past president and
director of third-quarter programs Michael Newman, and our
speakers, Insa Jenssen and Hsiao Yun Kuo.

UCLA. She plans to stay in the United States after her
studies and to work here.
Hsiao Yun Kuo is visiting from Taiwan. She also is
enjoying her stay in the United States, though her thoughts
are often of her home on the island of Taiwan.
Our young ambassadorial scholars are a credit to Rotary, and
we enjoyed their presentation very much.
